Figures show rise in manufactured exports
10/01/2007
Scottish manufactured exports estimates for the third quarter of 2006 were published today.
The statistics show a quarterly decline of 0.8 per cent and annual growth of 3.5 per cent, the fourth successive quarter showing a year-on-year increase.
Commenting on the figures, Deputy First Minister Nicol Stephen said:
"I am heartened to see annual growth of 3.5 per cent in our manufactured exports. This is the fourth successive quarter where we have witnessed an annual increase.
"Annual growth rates give the best indication of underlying trends, which is why the growth in our manufactured exports over the past year is so encouraging
"The positive achievement by Scottish exporters over the year highlights that many Scottish companies are in a position to compete in the global economic environment."
