Highlands and Islands Enterprise

Enterprise Minister Nicol Stephen today announced the reappointment of Angus MacKenzie to the Board of Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

Angus MacKenzie is a Chartered Accountant, and previously a partner in Ernst & Young. He has experience in establishing and running small businesses as a founder director of Spoff (Scotland) Ltd, a company manufacturing premium quality muesli, as well as having helped set up and run Brin Herb Nursery with his wife since 1985. Following his reappointment he will continue as Chair of Highlands and Islands Enterprise's audit committee. Mr MacKenzie holds no other ministerial appointments

The reappointment will be for three years and runs from 1 October 2006 to 30 September 2009. This post is part-time attracting a remuneration of £ 9,892 for a time commitment of 2 days per month.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise is a non-departmental public body (NDPB) and is the Scottish Executive's main vehicle for economic development in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

This Ministerial public appointment was made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland's Code of Practice.

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity (if there is any to be declared) to be made public.

Mr MacKenzie has declared no political activity within the last 5 years.
