Events organisation guide
26/09/2006
A step-by-step guide to help event managers throughout Scotland has been published by EventScotland.
Events Management: A Practical Guide is part of a wider service that EventScotland is providing to the events industry, offers user friendly advice on the planning process, together with sample checklists and adaptable templates.
Speaking ahead of a visit to Wigtown's Scottish Book Town Festival - funded through EventScotland's Regional Events Programme - Tourism Minister Patricia Ferguson said that shared expertise would help make Scotland an increasingly attractive location for major events.
Ms Ferguson said:
"It is our aim to ensure Scotland remains one of the world's foremost events destinations.
"The guide has been designed to help event managers enhance their expertise and further develop the core of knowledge that Scotland has developed in the events sector."
David Williams, CEO EventScotland, said:
"The task of providing general advice and guidance to address this diverse sector was certainly a challenge.
"Our two co-authors, with extensive events management and marketing experience, have developed a guide designed to help the effective management and delivery of events across the country.
"The publication has been produced primarily as a tool to support our Regional Events Programme, but it has a wider application across the events sector."
Co-authors Marie Christie (currently EventScotland's Regional Events Programme Manager) and Lesley McAteer have many years experience in the Scottish Events Industry and have worked together in the creation and delivery of a wide range of successful events and festivals.
Applicants to EventScotland's Regional Events Programme are eligible to receive a free copy of this guide (while stocks last). The publication will also shortly be available to download from www.EventScotland.org
EventScotland is Scotland's dedicated events organisation responsible for attracting, creating and developing sporting and cultural events throughout the country. Their work is geared towards ensuring Scotland remains one of the world's premier events destinations up to and beyond 2015.
The Regional Events Programme has supported 93 events since 2004, with another 17 events due to be announced at the end of September. During this period the programme has helped the growth of sporting and cultural events taking place outside the central belt.
