T in the Park

07/07/2006

The T in the Park music festival is a symbol of Scotland's vibrant popular culture, according to Culture Minister Patricia Ferguson.

The annual festival, with more than 100 bands performing, is being held at Balado near Kinross this weekend.

Ms Ferguson said:

"As the UK's most celebrated music festival, T in the Park is a huge event both locally and nationally, and symbolises Scotland's vibrant popular culture.

"This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase home-grown talent and is a powerful reflection of a thriving contemporary music industry in Scotland.

"Not only that, the festival's success is a huge boost for tourism, providing a great pull for visitors to come and experience all that Scotland has to offer."
