Community transport projects

28/06/2006

Fifteen projects across Scotland are to share in over £1 million in funding over the next three years from the latest round of the Executive's Rural Community Transport Initiative.

They include a volunteer car sharing scheme in Aberdeenshire and a community minibus in the Borders.

Transport Minister Tavish Scott said:

"This devolved government is committed to improving transport links for people living in areas where they are limited.

"Already community minibuses, dial-a-bus services and car sharing schemes are making a real difference for people living in Scotland's rural and remote areas.

"This new funding will help further bridge the transport gap in these areas for groups such as the elderly, the disabled and young people."
