Scottish Education Awards

Schools across Scotland were celebrating today after winning awards for their work in areas that ranged from anti-sectarianism to enterprise and healthy living.
First Minister Jack McConnell said:
"There are so many great things happening in our schools. Every year, we hear more inspiring stories from across the country.
"These awards allow us to celebrate the hard work and success which has taken place in Scottish education and recognise the achievements of those who dedicate their lives to ensuring young Scots have the best possible start in life."
Education Minister Peter Peacock said:
"The Education Awards give us a great opportunity to celebrate success in our schools - in everything from enterprise projects to healthy living."

- Ambition Award - St Columba's RC High School, Fife
- Schools for All Award - Willowbank School, North Lanarkshire
- Healthy Living Award - Raigmore Primary School, Highland
- Active Citizenship Award - Muirhead Primary School, South Ayrshire
- Better Behaviour and Attendance Award - Castlehead High School, Renfrewshire
- One Scotland Anti-Sectarianism Award - St Margaret Mary's Secondary, Glasgow
- ICT Learning Award - Hillhead Primary School, Highland
- Determined to Succeed - Enterprise in Education Award for Most Enterpiring Special School - Hyndhead School, Fife
- Determined to Succeed - Enterprise in Education Award for Most Enterprising Primary School - Dunbog Primary, Fife
- Determined to Succeed - Enterprise in Education Award for Most Enterprising Secondary School - St Margaret's High School, North Lanarkshire

- Scottish Daily Record Gold Award - Probationary Teacher of the Year - Susan Ward, Juniper Green Primary, Edinburgh
- Scottish Daily Record Gold Award - Education Supporter of the Year Award - Bill Lothian, Pilrig Park School, Edinburgh
Winning schools receive a trophy and £1,000. The winner of the Local Authority 'Making a Difference Award' will receive a trophy. Winners of individual categories will receive a trophy and a personal cheque for £500, and their school will receive £1,000. Winners of the age group categories in the pupil art competition will receive iPods, the overall winner will receive a trophy and a laptop computer, and their school will receive £1,000.
