Health Minister Andy Kerr today announced the re-appointment of Mr Robert Anderson as a member of Lothian NHS Board.

Robert Anderson is a retired NHS Manager. He is a member of the Management Committee of Melville Housing Association Limited, a charitable body that provides affordable housing in communities in Midlothian and South Lanarkshire. Mr Anderson is a volunteer with the Scottish Mining Museum in Newtongrange, and a member of Alzheimer Scotland Action on Dementia. He has been a member of Lothian NHS Board since 2004. He does not hold any other ministerial appointments.

Mr Anderson's re-appointment will be for a period of three years from April 1, 2006 to March 31, 2009.

This post is part time with a time commitment of eight hours per week for which the annual remuneration is £7,490.

Lothian NHS Board is responsible for the strategic planning of health services and the development of measures to improve the health of the community in the Lothian region.

Ministerial appointments are made in accordance with Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland (OCPAS) Code of Practice.

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity (if any declared) to be made public. Within the last five years, Mr Anderson has not been involved in any political activity.
