Les Brown has been appointed as the new District Procurator Fiscal for Kilmarnock by the Lord Advocate, Colin Boyd QC.
Mr Brown will hold a commission for Kilmarnock Sheriff Court District and will act as the personal representative of the Lord Advocate on a day-to-day basis. He will have local responsibility for the investigation and prosecution of crime and the investigation of sudden, suspicious and unexplained deaths in Kilmarnock and will work closely with Ayrshire Area Procurator Fiscal, John Dunn, who has full management and budgetary responsibility for the Ayrshire area.
The previous District Fiscal for Kilmarnock, Kenny Donnelly, left to take up the post of District Procurator Fiscal for Falkirk last month.
Mr Brown said:
"I am looking forward to working with the Area Procurator Fiscal and the staff at Kilmarnock. I know that my predecessors have established strong working relationships with criminal justice partner agencies, and I look forward to building on these to ensure that we continue to deliver the modern prosecution service expected by communities throughout Kilmarnock."
John Dunn, Area Fiscal, said:
"I am delighted to welcome Les as part of the Area team. He will work with the experienced and committed staff in the Kilmarnock office and local criminal justice partners to tackle crime and continue to improve the service that the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service delivers to the local community."
