Top architecture prize for Scottish Parliament building

The Scottish Parliament has tonight won the RIBA Stirling Prize, beating five other contenders for what is recognised as the highest award for contemporary British architecture.
The five other contenders were:
- BMW Central Building, Leipzig,
- Lewis Glucksman Gallery, Cork
- McLaren Technology Centre, Woking
- Jubilee Library, Brighton
- Fawood Children's Centre, Harlesden
The announcement was made at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Stirling Prize Dinner, which was held at the Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.
The Scottish Parliament building at Holyrood was officially opened on October 9, 2004.
