Aberdeen community health care practice

11/08/2005

The Calsayseat Medical Practice in Aberdeen was visited by Deputy Health Minister Lewis Macdonald today.

The recently opened building brings state of the art health facilities, including consulting rooms, a minor procedures facility and teaching areas to the local community.

The practice has a Personal Medical Services contract which focuses on improving access and delivering quality of service for local people.

Mr Macdonald said:

"The Calsayseat Medical Practice is an excellent example of modern healthcare provision and one which NHS Grampian can be extremely proud of.

"I am particularly impressed by the quality and variety of services that the practice offers to patients from an asthma clinic to purpose built accommodation for social work and occupational therapy.

"There are many advantages to providing health care in the community and these were highlighted in the Kerr Group's report. Minister's want to see more facilities of this kind being made available to NHS patients throughout the country."

Calsayseat Medical Practice was established over 100 years ago but relocated to new purpose built premises on Powis Place in December 2004.

The practice agreed a Personal Medical Services (PMS) contract in April 2002. All PMS schemes are voluntary and Ministers must approve pilot proposals before they start.

The following services are provided at the practice:

  • Asthma clinic
  • Heart clinic
  • Immunisation/child health and development clinic
  • Post graduate and under graduate teaching facilities
