New environmental science centre at Abertay
05/07/2005
A new environmental science centre was officially opened
at the University of Abertay today.
The Abertay Centre for the Environment (ACE) was
offically opened by Environment Minister Ross Finnie in
Dundee.
Mr Finnie said:
"The ACE Centre demonstrates what can be achieved when
the interests of academia, enterprise and the environment
come together.
"The students here are developing ideas which make a
real difference on the ground. Through using their
imagination they are deriving real answers to the questions
of how to make our planet more sustainable.
"The resources being developed at Abertay are making a
real difference to businesses here in Dundee and further
afield. I wish this unique collaboration every success in
the future."
The Centre was set up last year by the University of
Abertay Dundee as a £2 million knowledge centre designed to
assist Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) across Eastern
Scotland. ACE provides much needed expert help in
developing new, more environmentally-friendly products and
services.
