29/06/2005

Mrs Linda Cross has been appointed to the Board of the Sea Fish Industry Authority (SFIA).

Mrs Cross is Managing Director of Trawlpac Seafoods Limited, an independent Scottish whitefish processing company. She has recently been appointed Chair of the Scottish Seafood Processors Federation (SSPF).

Mrs Cross brings a breadth of experience to the work of the Board covering processing and product development to UK and International markets.

Established in 1981 to promote the efficiency of the sea fish industry, the 12 member Sea Fish Industry Authority Board has powers to undertake research and development, advise, provide training and promote the marketing and consumption of fish.

The SFIA consists of four independent members and eight members who represent a range of industry interests.

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. Mrs Cross does not hold any other Ministerial appointments and has not declared a political interest.
