Deputy Chair appointed to Scottish Natural Heritage

Keith Geddes was today appointed as Deputy Chair of Scottish Natural Heritage.

Mr Geddes, who has been a Board Member of SNH since April 2001, will serve until 31 March 2007. He has been appointed as Deputy Chair following the retirement of Michael Scott in April.

Keith Geddes is Policy Director with Pagoda Public Relations. He is presently Chair of the SNH Audit and Risk Management Committee and of Greenspace Scotland.

He is a former member of the Scottish Arts Council, Scottish Enterprise and Livingston Development Corporation. His is a member of the Accounts Commission for Scotland, a post which attracts a remuneration of £4,400 per annum.

Until May 1999 Mr Geddes was a Councillor on City of Edinburgh Council (having been leader of the Council and Presedent of COSLA). He stood as a Labour candidate in the 1999 Scottish Parliament election and, in 2001, as the Labour candidate for Tweeddale, Ettrick and Lauderdale in the Westminster Parliamentary elections.

This post is part-time and attracts a remuneraion of £18,733 per annum for a time commitment of six days per month.
