Health Minister Andy Kerr today announced the
appointment of
Mr Hamish Guthrie as a new member to the
Board of NHS 24.
Hamish Guthrie is a former Senior Partner, Business Risk
Consulting with Ernst & Young. His work there covered a
wide range of organisations including the NHS, the Scottish
Enterprise Network, Education, Utilities, Financial
Services and Manufacturing.
He has held non-executive positions in the Charity and
Services sector. He does not hold any other ministerial
appointments.
The appointment will be for four years from 1 March 2005
until 28 February 2009.
It is expected that as a Member he will contribute
around eight hours per week for which the annual
remuneration is £7,305.
The Board of NHS 24 is responsible for the management of
a confidential 24 hour nurse consultation and health
information telephone service across Scotland. To meet
these needs it has an annual budget of around £46m.
This Ministerial appointment was made in accordance with
Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland (OCPAS)
Code of Practice.
All appointments are made on merit and political
activity plays no part in the selection process. However,
in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations,
there is a requirement for appointees' political activity
(if any declared) to be made public. Within the last five
years, Mr Guthrie has not been involved in any political
activity.
