Remembrance Sunday 2004

14/11/2004

First Minister Jack McConnell joined Prince Edward and Secretary of State for Scotland Alistair Darling at the Stone of Rembrance outside Edinburgh City Chambers.

Mr McConnell said:

"On Remembrance Sunday we pay tribute to the memory of those brave men and women who gave their lives so that we could all live in a safer world.

"Scotland will never forget the sacrifice of those who died so that we would be free and today we also pay tribute to those brave Scottish soldiers who have so tragically lost their lives in the conflict in Iraq.

"We are all proud of the courage they are showing to make the world a safer place in this century."
