Scottish Economic Report

The tenth edition of the Scottish Economic Report is
published today.
It presents a thorough review of recent trends in the
Scottish, UK and global economies.
In addition, there are four shorter articles focusing on
selected economic issues.
The report analyses and explores recent developments and
incorporates data available up to October 27 this year.
Chapter 1 provides an overview of the Scottish economy,
summarising recent developments and future prospects.
Chapter 2 discusses the linkages between Scotland and
the global economic environment.
Chapter 3 outlines the recently refreshed Framework for
Economic Development in Scotland, and Building a Better
Scotland, Spending Proposals 2005-2008: Enterprise,
Opportunity, Fairness.
Chapter 4 presents four articles:
- Older workers in the labour market (University of
Edinburgh)
- Trends in the small business sector (The Federation
of Small Businesses)
- Government expenditure and revenue in Scotland
- Scottish creative industries
Editorial responsibility for SER lies with the
Executive's Office of the Chief Economic Adviser. The next
edition will be published in spring 2005.
