Holyrood opening ceremony

Scottish Ministers will be among more than 1,000 people
taking part in the opening ceremony for the new Scottish
Parliament at Holyrood in Edinburgh on Saturday.
First Minister Jack McConnell will join the procession
down the Royal Mile and make a speech setting the future of
the new Parliament in the context of the devolution
settlement.
The Royal Scottish
National Orchestra and the UK's Young Musician of the Year
Nicola Benedetti will play. The National Youth Choir, Eddi
Reader, and Seinneadairean-Shalm Leodhais will sing. Liz
Lochhead will read a poem by the Makar, Edwin Morgan.
