Dunfermline District Fiscal

The new district fiscal for Dunfermline takes up post today, receiving his commission from Scotland's senior Law Officer, Lord Advocate Colin Boyd QC.

Mr Andrew Grant will hold a commission for Dunfermline sheriff court district and will act as the personal representative of the Lord Advocate on a day-to-day basis in relation to the investigation and prosecution of crime and the investigation of sudden, suspicious and unexplained deaths in Dunfermline .

He will work closely with Fife Area Procurator Fiscal, Cameron Ritchie, who has full management and budgetary responsibility for the Fife area.

Mr Ritchie said:

"Andrew will be a great addition to the team in Fife. His experience as a prosecutor and commitment to working with criminal justice partners will be invaluable as we strive to improve the service we provide to the local community."

Biography

Andrew Grant graduated from the University of Dundee and joined the department in 1995 as Procurator Fiscal Depute in the Aberdeen Office, where he has worked ever since. In 1999, he was promoted to Senior Principal Procurator Fiscal Depute and has been dealing primarily with Health and Safety in the offshore industry, pollution offshore and emergency planning.
