Mirian Watson, the new Procurator Fiscal for 'C' Division, Glasgow takes up post today, after being appointed by Lord Advocate Colin Boyd QC.

She will have local responsibility for the investigation and prosecution of crime and the investigation of sudden, suspicious and unexplained deaths in 'C' Division and will work closely with Glasgow Area Procurator Fiscal, Catherine Dyer, who has responsibility for the Glasgow area.

Ms Watson returns to Glasgow having worked there previously as a Procurator Fiscal Depute during the 1980s.

She said:

"I am delighted to be back in the Glasgow office. There have been lots of changes since I was last here, and I am looking forward to continuing the good work that is already underway.

"Providing an excellent service to the people of Glasgow is my main aim, and I look forward to working with communities to better understand their needs."

Catherine Dyer, Area Fiscal, said

"Mirian is an excellent addition to the team here at Glasgow. I know she will continue to strive to deliver an improved service to the communities of Glasgow, and build on the good work already done by Scott Pattison. She will be well supported by the diligent and dedicated team in the Glasgow office, as well as our local criminal justice system partners."

Mirian Watson joined the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service in 1979, after graduating from Strathclyde University. During her career with the service, she has worked in offices across Scotland, including Paisley, Greenock, Glasgow and Crown Office, and was involved in the preparation and prosecution of the Lockerbie case.
