Mirian Watson, the new Procurator Fiscal for 'C'
Division, Glasgow takes up post today, after being
appointed by Lord Advocate Colin Boyd QC.
She will have local responsibility for the investigation
and prosecution of crime and the investigation of sudden,
suspicious and unexplained deaths in 'C' Division and will
work closely with Glasgow Area Procurator Fiscal, Catherine
Dyer, who has responsibility for the Glasgow area.
Ms Watson returns to Glasgow having worked there
previously as a Procurator Fiscal Depute during the
1980s.
She said:
"I am delighted to be back in the Glasgow office. There
have been lots of changes since I was last here, and I am
looking forward to continuing the good work that is already
underway.
"Providing an excellent service to the people of Glasgow
is my main aim, and I look forward to working with
communities to better understand their needs."
Catherine Dyer, Area Fiscal, said
"Mirian is an excellent addition to the team here at
Glasgow. I know she will continue to strive to deliver an
improved service to the communities of Glasgow, and build
on the good work already done by Scott Pattison. She will
be well supported by the diligent and dedicated team in the
Glasgow office, as well as our local criminal justice
system partners."
Mirian Watson joined the Crown Office and
Procurator Fiscal Service in 1979, after graduating from
Strathclyde University. During her career with the service,
she has worked in offices across Scotland, including
Paisley, Greenock, Glasgow and Crown Office, and was
involved in the preparation and prosecution of the
Lockerbie case.
