New online consultation system

23/03/2004

The Executive launched two new online systems today that underline its commitment to hearing the views of the people of Scotland on a full range of issues.

New consultation pages on the Executive website will provide improved listings of consultation exercises - current and closed. They will also include upcoming consultations for the first time.

And SEConsult will allow people to receive a weekly e-mail with details of all newly-launched and forthcoming consultations.

Both systems are important elements of the Executive's efforts to improve the way it operates, including the way it involves external groups and individuals in its work. This work is being done under the Changing to Deliver banner.

The Executive will continue to monitor its consultation activity and work to improve its performance through regular reviews of its practice and enhancements to its on-line systems.

SEConsult will complement distribution lists drawn up for individual consultation exercises and provides an additional method by which stakeholders can learn of consultations which may be of interest to them. It is hoped that the system will help bring new voices into the policy arena.

Changing to Deliver is the Executive's corporate culture change programme. The two year programme was launched in 2003 and was designed in response to feedback from Ministers, stakeholders and staff, and to reflect changing customer expectations of public services and the way they are delivered.

One of the key strands of this change agenda relates to outward focus - working to ensure that the Executive works in partnership with stakeholders and designs policies and services around customer needs.
