New area fiscal for Dumfries and Galloway

Mr Tom Dysart has been appointed Area Procurator
Fiscal forDumfriesandGalloway in succession toDavid Howdle who has recently been appointed Area
Procurator Fiscal for Tayside.
Mr Dysart, currently one of four
divisional fiscals forGlasgow, will take up his post in March.
Lord Advocate Colin Boyd said:
"I am pleased to announce the appointment of Tom
Dysart as Area Procurator Fiscal forDumfriesandGalloway. During his time atGlasgow, Tom played an important role in the modernisation
and reform of theGlasgowoffice.
"He has done excellent work with criminal justice
partners and has represented the department in the review
of summary criminal justice which has been conducted by
Sheriff Principal John McInnes. His dedication and
commitment will be put to good use inDumfriesandGalloway, and I know he wilI work hard to improve the service
offered to communities throughout the area."
Tom Dysart, who graduated fromStrathclydeUniversity, joined the department in 1981 and has worked at
offices throughout the country. He has been based atGlasgowsince 2001, and has been the divisional Procurator
Fiscal forGlasgow(South) since January 2003.
Mr Dysart said:
"I am delighted to be appointed Area
Procurator Fiscal forDumfriesandGalloway. This is a time of significant
change in the criminal justice system.
These changes will bring challenges but also
opportunities.
"I am looking forward to working with my
criminal justice partners in the area to deliver the
modern and responsive service which the public can
rightly expect.
In doing so I know that I will be
building on excellent work already done by David
Howdle, my predecessor."
