Justice adviser appointed

Scott Ballintyne has been appointed as an expert adviser on community safety to the Justice department.

Mr Ballintyne will work in the Police and Community Safety group for the next 18 months and will offer advice to Justice Ministers and the department.

His appointment is on civil service terms and conditions and is a non-political appointment. His salary will be within the Executive's salary range for C Band staff.

Mr Ballintyne has been a central government researcher, a consultant to both the Scottish Executive and COSLA, has held senior positions in local government in London, and has worked with the Institute of Public Policy Research on policing and community safety issues.
