Appointments to British Potato Council

Appointments and re-appointments to the
British Potato Council were announced today by Ross Finnie,
Minister for Rural Development.
The appointments are made jointly by Scottish
Executive, Defra and the Welsh Assembly.
RE-APPOINTMENTS
Colin Bradley - representing growers,
Douglas Harley - representing growers, Richard Harris -
representing post-production, James Harrison - representing
growers, Kevin Littleboy - representing growers, Alex Stephens
- representing growers and Nick Vermont - representing
marketing and distribution.
Janet Bainbridge - independent, Robert Doig - representing
post-production, Richard Maddocks - representing growers, John
Rix representing growers, Fraser Scott
representing growers, Nicholas Twell
representing post-production and Duncan Worth representing
growers.
All of these appointments are for three
years and will come to an end on September 30 2006.
Council members do not receive a salary but are
paid £100 for each meeting of the Council (normally 6 a
year).
Kevin Littleboy was chairman of his local
branch of the Conservative Party until 1997.
No other candidate declared any political
activity or affiliation in the last 5 years, nor do any of them
hold any other Ministerial appointment.
The British Potato Council (BPC) was
established under the Potato Industry Development Council Order
1997.
The BPC is a statutory, levy-funded body with
responsibility for commissioning research and development, home
market and export promotion and the collection and
dissemination of statistics on behalf of the GB potato
industry.
Robert Doig (who replaces David Stewart)
and Fraser Scott join Douglas Harley in representing the
Scottish potato industry on the Council.
