Tackling crime seminar

Procurators Fiscal and local authorities from
across the Central area today met to discuss tackling
crime at Stirling Chambers.
Central Area Procurator Fiscal, Geraldine Watt
welcomed delegates from Clackmannanshire,Falkirkand Stirling Councils to the event which aimed to
encourage closer working and communication between local
authorities and Procurators Fiscal.
Geraldine Watt said:
"We are all too aware of the impact of crime on
the quality of life of communities across the Central
area. By combining the knowledge and experience of
fiscal service staff and local authority enforcement
agencies, we can work together to ensure that crimes
are dealt with efficiently and appropriately."
Local authorities are one of the many non-police
reporting bodies who can submit a report to the
Procurator Fiscal, reporting a diverse range of crimes
including trading standards offences and breaches of
planning legislation.
The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service
receives reports from more than 70 specialist
non-police reporting agencies, including the Scottish
Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA), HM Customs and
Excise.
