Visitscotland launches advertising campaign

VisitScotland launched 'Autumn Gold' today, its latest advertising campaign aiming to boost the number of people spending a long weekend inScotlandat what is traditionally a quiet time of the year.

Speaking at the launch of the new £1.5 million advertising campaign which uses a commercial based on the five senses, Tourism Minister Frank McAveety said:

"Scotlandis outperforming the rest of theUKin terms of how much tourism brings to the economy. That is the result of a lot of very hard work by people across the entire sector, and we now need to build on what is proving to be a successful year.

"Everyone involved in Scottish tourism needs to work hard together to beat the growing international competition and this new campaign focuses on keepingScotlanda 'must visit, must return' destination."

Tourism isScotland's biggest business sector, attracting £4.5 billion ofvisitor spend each year and accounting for nearly 200,000 jobs across the country, many in rural areas where the sector is the leading employer.
