Glasgow's City Park 'model for 21st century'
07/03/2003
The City Park office development in Glasgow, a £20
million conversion of the former Wills tobacco factory, was
held up today as an outstanding example of a modern working
environment fit for the 21
st century.
At 300,000 square feet, City Park is thought to be the
largest office development in Scotland with the capacity
for up to 3,000 employees.
On a visit to the development, Finance and Public
Services Minister Andy Kerr said:
"I am greatly impressed by the facilities I have seen
here today at City Park. The mix of business and leisure
facilities with art deco artwork creates a vibrant
atmosphere which is undoubtedly enjoyable to work in.
"The sheer scale of the development is also highly
impressive. Scotland's workforce is changing rapidly and
therefore it is vital we have the best facilities possible
to house businesses which need first class meeting and
business facilities.
"This project clearly reflects the Executive's own
priorities to position Scotland as a modern, dynamic
economy and to do this it is crucial we have the right
services in the right environment to create exciting and
successful businesses in Scotland."
