Guide to help deliver better public services
18/02/2003
A new user-friendly guide designed to help public sector
bodies deliver excellence in public services was launched
today.
The guide provides a clear description of key quality
tools and schemes available to the public sector. It also
demonstrates how they link together and complement one
another.
Speaking at the Scottish Executive Quality Network
conference in Dundee, Minister for Finance and Public
Services Andy Kerr said:
"Delivering better, more efficient public services that
get it right first time for the customer is a top priority
of the Executive. Good practice, partnership working and
effective use of good quality tools can effectively deliver
change and improve public services.
"The Executive promotes the use of quality tools and
schemes to help deliver services improvements for customers
and I am delighted to introduce this guide which aims to do
just that.
"We believe that it is a matter of choice for public
service providers which tool they use. This guide provides
a clear description of key quality tools and schemes
available to the public sector and it demonstrates how they
link together and complement one another.
"Meeting expectations and delivering choice in the
public sector is the challenge now facing us all. Quality
schemes and tools have a clear role to play in the delivery
of customer focused, excellent public services in
Scotland."
The Minister addressed the Scottish Executive Quality
Network Conference at the West Park Conference Centre,
Dundee.
The Quality Network encompasses public sector
representatives from all over Scotland and encourages its
members to share ideas, knowledge and best practice to
deliver better public services.
