Reappointment to SIDAB

Mr David Campbell CBE has been reappointed as a Member of the Scottish Industrial Development Advisory Board (SIDAB).

Minister for Enterprise, Transport and Lifelong Learning Iain Gray welcomed the re-appointment of Mr Campbell, who represents Scotland's interests on the Board of the New Opportunities Fund, the National Lottery distributor, and Chairs the recently established Scottish Land Fund. His commercial interests include Summerlea Investment & Management Co Ltd.

Mr Gray said:

"I am pleased to announce that Mr Campbell has accepted a one-year re-appointment to SIDAB until 31 December this year.

"SIDAB will no doubt continue to benefit from Mr Campbell's wide-ranging expertise and experience with this re-appointment."

Mr Campbell was formerly Chairman of Scottish Citylink, West Independent Newspapers and is a Past President of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce. Until recently he also chaired the Health Education Board for Scotland and was Deputy Chairman of Scottish Enterprise Ayrshire. Mr Campbell holds no political appointments.

The Scottish Industrial Development Advisory Board advises Scottish Ministers on the exercise of their devolved powers under Section 7 of the Industrial Development Act 1982, specifically in relation to the operation of the Regional Selective Assistance scheme. In practice, SIDAB provides advice to officials on larger RSA cases, where grants of over £250,000 are under consideration.

SIDAB comprises 12 Members including a Chair and, in accordance with statutory requirements, represents a cross section of experience at senior level in industry, commerce, finance and workers' representatives. Board Members are unpaid.
