Publication of GERS report

20/01/2003

The Government Expenditure and Revenue in Scotland 2000-01 report is an impartial examination of budgetary issues in Scotland, Ministers said today as it was published.

Minister for Finance and Public Services Andy Kerr said:

"This report has been compiled by Scottish Executive economists and statisticians and offers an examination of budgetary issues in Scotland. I am confident GERS will make an important contribution in this area."

Secretary of State Helen Liddell said:

"GERS provides detailed and impartial information about revenues and public expenditure issues in Scotland. It enhances our understanding of how public finances are distributed throughout the UK."
