10/06/2002

Among the beneficiaries is a new marketing initiative for Rosyth Ferry, a project which aims to generate additional overseas visitors to the East of Scotland.

Making the announcement, Deputy Minister for Finance and Public Services Peter Peacock said:

"I am delighted to be able to announce today a further injection of European Funding which will benefit a wide and diverse range of projects across the East of Scotland.

"More than £700,000 has been awarded to this new initiative which will play a major role in the drive to bring more visitors to the East of Scotland. The Superfast Ferries daily service from Zeebrugge to Rosyth will be the first direct car and passenger service to the Scottish mainland.

"The projects which I have announced today will provide excellent benefits, both to the wider Programme area as a whole as well as to a number of the local Community Economic Development areas spread around the East of Scotland."
