Auchenlarie Holiday Park receives IIP award
Auchenlarie Holiday Park, Castle Douglas, was today recognised for the way they developed their staff in line with business needs.
The caravan park received an Investors in People (IIP) award from the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport Elaine Murray. This nationally recognised award highlights companies demonstrating best practice with regards to their staff.
Ms Murray said:
"Each IIP award to tourism represents a success story for the industry. I am especially pleased for Dumfries and Galloway that Auchenlarie have achieved this standard, particularly in the aftermath of FMD.
"Scotland is well know for friendliness. Vital to developing Scotland as a must-visit destination, it is vital that this friendliness is translated into good service standards. For this, Scottish tourism needs more enthusiastic and bright people to see tourism as a first choice career.
"Auchenlarie's IIP award will help to highlight tourism as a career - showing that a career in tourism leads to the development of important skills. I know that tourism can provide an interesting, exciting and rewarding career to many young people in Scotland."
Scottish tourism has a total of 216 businesses accredited with the IIP award, and a further 217 working towards it. Ten percent of all IIP accredited businesses in the Scottish Enterprise area are in the tourism sector.
