FM responds to countryside protest

16/01/2002

Following this morning's demonstration by rural protestors, when manure was dumped on the doorstep of Bute House, First Minister Jack McConnell said:

"Scotland's rural areas are famous the world over for decent standards of behaviour and the respect that people show for each other in the countryside.

"Those who grew up in a rural community would be embarrassed by this disgraceful behaviour. These people have shown just how out of touch they are with decent folk in rural Scotland."
