£50,000 for Scottish Borders foot and mouth recovery

29/08/2001

The Scottish Executive today awarded £50,000 to the Borders Community Support Fund (CSF). This will match funding already committed by Scottish Borders Council and Scottish Enterprise Borders.

The Executive has awarded the full amount of funding held in reserve for community-level foot and mouth recovery in the Scottish Borders. Funding from the CSF will be awarded to community projects which build community capacity and promote social inclusion by enabling local people to contribute to the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of the area.

BACKGROUND

This announcement follows on from the announcement earlier this month that Ministers were committing £10 million for foot and mouth recovery. £300,000 of this, including up to £50,000 for the Scottish Borders, was allocated for community level recovery.
