06/09/2000
Communities Minister Wendy Alexander today welcomed the appointment by the Board of Scottish Homes of Bob Millar as new Chief Executive.
Ms Alexander said:
"I am pleased to approve the decision by the Board of Scottish Homes to appoint Mr Millar as their new Chief Executive. I look forward to working with Mr Millar during what will be an exciting and challenging time for Scottish Homes in helping to deliver the Scottish Executive's radical agenda for housing in Scotland."
BACKGROUND
1. Under the terms of existing legislation it is the responsibility of the Board of Scottish Homes to appoint its Chief Executive, with the approval of Scottish Ministers.
2. The forthcoming Housing Bill will provide for Scottish Homes to become an Executive Agency of the Scottish Executive. The intention is that staff at the time will transfer employment into the Scottish Executive. The timing of the change is dependent on parliamentary approval of the proposals.
