June catch limits for non-sector vessels: Area VII

Fisheries Ministers today announced details of the management arrangements which will apply to appropriately licensed UK registered or British owned fishing vessels over 10 metres overall length from 00.01 hours on Monday 1 June 1998 in certain Area VII fisheries.

The following arrangements apply only to vessels not in membership of a Producer Organisation which has been allocated a sectoral quota of the stock in question. Fisheries Departments are arranging for appropriate licences to be issued to all vessels concerned.

Eastern English Channel sole

The sum of all amounts of sole caught during any calendar month in ICES Division VIId and retained on board, landed or trans shipped shall not exceed 500 kgs.

Western English Channel sole

The sum of all amounts of sole caught during any calendar month in ICES Division VIIe and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed 50 kgs.

Irish Sea plaice

The sum of all amounts of plaice caught during any calendar month in ICES Division VIIa and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed 700 kgs.

English Channel plaice

The sum of all amounts of plaice caught during any calendar month in ICES Divisions VIId and e and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed 600 kgs.

Bristol Channel and South East of Ireland plaice

The sum of all amounts of plaice caught during any calendar month in ICES Divisions VIIf and g and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed 350 kgs.

Irish Sea cod

The sum of all amounts of cod caught during any calendar month in ICES Division VIIa and retained on board, landed or trans shipped shall not exceed 1.5 tonnes.

Irish Sea whiting

The sum of all amounts of whiting caught during any calendar month in ICES Division VIIa and retained on board, landed or trans shipped shall not exceed 2 tonnes.

Channel and Western Waters whiting

The sum of all amounts of whiting caught during any calendar month in ICES Divisions VIIb to k and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed 1.75 tonnes.

Saithe

The sum of all amounts of saithe caught during any calendar month in ICES Sub Areas VII, VIII, IX, X and CECAF 34.1.1 (EC Zone) and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed 250 kgs.

Megrim

The sum of all amounts of megrim caught during any calendar month in ICES Sub Area VII and retained on board, landed or trans-shipped shall not exceed 1.5 tonnes.

Haddock

The sum of all amounts of haddock caught during any calendar month in ICES Sub Areas VII, VIII, IX, X and CECAF 34.1.1 (EC Zone) and retained on board, landed or trans shipped shall not exceed 450 kgs.

Norway lobster (Nephrops)

The sum of all amounts of Norway lobster (Nephrops norvegicus) caught during any calendar month in ICES Sub Area VII and retained on board, landed or trans shipped shall not exceed 500 kgs.

These arrangements will be kept under review.

7. Whiting VIIa - 1.25 tonnes

8. Whiting VIIb-k - 1.25 tonne

9. Saithe - 500 kgs

10. Megrim - 1.25 tonnes

11. Haddock - 400 kgs

12. Norway lobster (nephrops) - 400 kgs

Other current restrictions

1. Sole VIIa - 100 kgs

2. Sole VIIfg - 200 kgs

3. Sole VIIhjk - suspended

4. Plaice VIIhjk - suspended

5. Cod VIIb-k - 300 kgs

6. Anglers - 1.25 tonnes

7. Hake - 3.5 tonnes

8. Pollack - 1.25 tonnes
