Document of the Month - May

This year for local history month the National Archives of Scotland selected a Scottish town, Montrose, and then investigated the different types of records which give details of the development of, and life in, that town.

All the documents refer to Montrose in one way or another. However, many of these record categories might equally have information about local history in your area. We hope the range of records displayed here will encourage local historians to investigate several different sources when trying to recreate the history of an area that interests them.
