The Bill, which was introduced to Parliament on September 9, 2007, will enable the Scottish Government to abolish tolls on the Forth and Tay Road bridges.
It delivers three objectives:
- It removes the ability to charge and collect tolls on the Forth and Tay Bridges
- It removes the debt repayment limit of 2016 in respect of Tay Bridge
- It repeals obsolete legislation relating to the Erskine Bridge
The Bill fulfils the '100 Days' commitment to remove the tolls on the Forth and Tay road bridges.
