Learning Connections has two strands of work.
The Adult Literacies team supports providers as they implement the recommendations in the Adult Literacy and Numeracy in Scotland Report 2001. For our latest progress on these recommendations see the Report on the Scottish Adult Literacy and Numeracy Strategy 2006 -2007.
Our Community Learning and Development (CLD) team provides advice to ministers on the Scottish Executive's CLD policy and supports this policy by working with local partnerships and national agencies.
A small team of Learning Connections staff are working to support the development of a Standards Council for Community Learning and Development in Scotland.
Learning Connections supports local partners; engages in research; encourages the sharing of practice and new approaches; seeks to improving quality; develops training opportunities; supports networking; raises awareness; works with national and local organisations.
