Recruitment Code

How we recruit

We are responsible for ensuring that the recruitment process to The Scottish Government meets the requirements of the Civil Service Commissioners Recruitment Codehttp://www.civilservicecommissioners.org/ (i.e. selection on merit in a fair and open competition).

We usually recruit throughout the year as and when vacancies arise. We also have staff either on secondment from other organisations, and a small number of fixed-term appointees.

We take a small number of successful candidates from centrally run civil service recruitment schemes such as the Fast Stream Development Programmehttp://www.faststream.gov.uk/

When vacancies are open to external recruitment, they will be advertised here, the press and/or relevant professional journals.

The recruitment process

If shortlisted, candidates will be selected by panel interview or assessment centre. These methods will determine how you match the competencies, skills and experience needed for the job.
