Current Status

For the two years ending March 2013 the number of completed child healthy weight interventions was 10,183.

HEAT Target

To achieve 14,910 completed child healthy weight intervention over the three years ending March 2014.

H: Child healthy weight interventions

Why is this HEAT target important?

Attainment of the Scottish Government's Purpose of a flourishing economy requires a healthy population. Obesity poses a real risk to the health of the population in Scotland and its ability to meet its overarching purpose of sustainable economic growth because of the burden of disease that accompanies obesity.

Target due for delivery in 2013/14

During the period April 2011-March 2014 Boards will be building on interventions developed during the first target period. Guidance has been issued to Boards by the Scottish Government which harnesses learning from the first target period and seeks to streamline the range of interventions delivered. The Guidance also contains a new requirement that at least 40% of child healthy weight interventions are delivered to children/families in the two most deprived SIMD quintiles by local SIMD datazone.

For the period April 2011 - March 2013 10,183 interventions were delivered.

The number of interventions delivered between April 2011 and March 2012, and April 2011 and March 2013, by NHS Board, and targets for 2013/14 are shown below.
