The costs allocated against a Directorate General include the costs of the organisations that they sponsor for example the figures for DG Enterprise, Environment & Digital include returns from Registers of Scotland (Non Ministerial Department) and Transport Scotland (Executive Agency).

The costs incurred by DG Enterprise, Environment & Digital and DG Governance & Communities relate almost entirely to the provision of office plants through facilities management contracts.

The increase in costs between 2010/11 and 2011/12 recorded against DG Enterprise, Environment & Digital is primarily due to an office plants contract that commenced in 2011/12.

The increase in costs between 2011/12 and 2012/13 recorded against DG Governance & Communities is due to a new facilities management contract commencing on 1 October 2012 that re-priced the provision of office plants within the overall bundle of services.

The Visits and Events Team arrange events, including the provision of flowers, on behalf of the Scottish Government.
