It may be useful to note that the company is one which specialises in the sale of paper shredders. The Scottish Executive and its agencies use shredders, in common with other organisations, primarily to destroy unwanted duplicates of papers where the originals exist in corporate files. Shredders are generally used to destroy duplicate copies of the papers on the official files which had been printed out for use at meetings, ease of reading etc. This way of working has probably increased in most organisations since the move to electronic production and storage of documents and the ease of making duplicate print-outs for one-off use.
