The only original artwork bought in the last five years was for the refurbishment of St Andrews House which was completed in 2002 - details are provided below.
Valuations for insurance purposes were provided at the time of acquisition and these are quoted above. However under the Scottish Executives policy of self-insurance these works of art are not insured - should they need to be repaired or replaced or a claim met, the Executive would meet the cost from within its allocation of resources.
These works of art help enhance the office environment - for our staff and visitors. We also believe in supporting and promoting art by Scottish artists or artists resident in Scotland. The Executive always aims to ensure we spend taxpayers' money wisely - and we believe investing a tiny proportion of our resources in these art works provides value for money.
