Information Released in Response to an FOI Request

Centrally produced guidance advises Scottish Executive staff to notify the Freedom of Information Unit of requests for reviews, and also advises staff to notify the Unit of the review outcome. The Unit centrally records that a review has been requested, and whether the original decision has been upheld, upheld in part, or overturned.

Between 1 January 2005 and 16 January 2006, the Unit had been notified of 221 requests for reviews of decisions where the Unit had been notified that the outcome of the original request was to withhold all or some of the information requested. The table below shows details of all reviews where the Unit have been notified of the review outcome, and provides numbers of cases where the unit have been notified that the review has either upheld, upheld in part, or overturned the original decision. The original decision provided is based upon the centrally recorded information held where the Unit were nofied of the outcome of the original request.
