Request for information: Since 1999, have any members of the Management Group declared benefits of any kind from a third party?
The Scottish Executive Staff Handbook provides guidance on the acceptance of gifts and hospitality, and HR provide specific advice when staff are unsure if the accepting of the gift or hospitality could be seen as a conflict of interest. There are similar value distinctions on the acceptance of gifts and hospitality, but only the acceptance of gifts (which are more than trivial items and have a retail value of more than £5) are recorded by HR in a central database.
The following is the information we have recorded for MG members, accepting gifts as an MG member:
John Elvidge - Permanent Secretary
- Waterman pen from Scottish Education Awards in February 2002 valued at £30.
- £50 gift voucher from Holyrood Summer School in August 2004. Mr. Elvidge donated the voucher to the Scottish Executive Counselling and Welfare fund.
John Aldridge - Finance Director
- Stainless Steel Clock from Finance Director of the Year lunch in March 2004 valued at £15.
Robert Gordon - Chief Executive of COPFS and Head of LPS
- 10 Year Old Whisky from Scottish Whisky Association in February 2002 valued at £20.
- Set of coasters from Goldsmiths Incorporated in November 2003 valued at £40.
Sally Carruthers - Director of Change and Corporate Services
- Arran 10 year old single malt from the HR Directors of Scottish Public Services in November 2004 valued at £20.
For other members of Management Group, there is a nil response recorded.
