Class 21 -Statistics

The Statistician Group functions as a professional group within the Scottish Government as part of the Corporate Analytical Services Directorate. The group provides statistical support for the Scottish Government and disseminates outputs via the website and in print. If you do not have access to the website please contact the Central Enquiry Unit on 08457 741741 (see section 6 on 'Accessing information under the Scheme') who can provide a single print-out free of charge of the information you require.

The Statistics section of the Scottish Government website is organised along a topic structure (listed below). These topics contain links to relevant publications and datasets, and information on consultation and planning. Statistics topic pages also contain 'High Level Trend' pages. These consist of summary information on a key trend (including a graph in most cases) with links to further information (such as publications or related web-pages). Statistics publications are held on the Publications area of the Scottish Government website. Each publication is accompanied by a Statistical News Release which is placed on the News section of the website and contains a link to the publication. Our year ahead schedule of publications is available from the Forthcoming Publications page.

The Statistics Group also maintains the Scottish Neighbourhood Statistics website which is the Scottish Neighbourhood Statistics is the Scottish Governments on-going programme to improve the availability, consistency and accessibility of small area statistics in Scotland. This internet site is the main way in which the Scottish Government will disseminate the range of small area statistics including information on health, education, poverty, unemployment, housing, population, crime and social / community issues at the data zone level and above which support a number of the Governments targets and commitments aimed at closing the gap between disadvantaged areas and the rest of Scotland. Information on the website is updated quarterly.

Publications relating to the General Registry Office for Scotland are published on their website.
