LATEST NEWS - MARCH 2012 - CALL FOR EVIDENCE NOW CLOSED

The Doran Review's Call for Evidence is now closed. We received over 260 responses and would like to thank everyone who took the time to share their views, expertise and experiences. An independent research company is now analysing the responses and will provide a report to the Review which will be published when the Review completes.

THE DORAN REVIEW

Every child has the right to become a successful learner, confident individual, effective contributor and responsible citizen - wherever their learning is taking place. Some will face barriers to learning and will need additional support to enable them to make the most of their educational opportunities and to realise their potential. The Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004, which has been strengthened and updated through the Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2009, provides the legal framework for identifying and addressing additional support needs.

For some children and young people, their complex range of additional support needs may be beyond the capacity of an individual Local Authority to cater for.  They may require access to regional or national provision.

The Doran Review will consider whether the current system is achieving the best possible outcomes for Scotland's children and young people, and recommend any improvements necessary.
