To manage Scotland's seas for prosperity and environmental sustainability in order to promote sustainable economic growth and the achievement of our Marine Vision of clean, healthy, safe, productive, biologically diverse marine and coastal environments, managed to meet the long term needs of people and nature.
Objectives
- To promote sustainable, profitable and well managed fisheries and aquaculture industries in Scotland
- To promote the marine renewables industry in Scotland through streamlined planning and regulatory frameworks
- To ensure a sound evidence base to inform the development and delivery of marine policy, planning and services
- To ensure effective compliance and enforcement arrangements
- To continue the integration of functions and resources and to develop the organisation's skills, competencies and capacity for new challenges, including potential new functions and responsibilities under the Marine (Scotland) Bill.
