Shirley Ferguson
Shirley presently heads up one of the two litigation divisions in SGLD. Her experience in working as a government lawyer has included instructing bills and drafting subordinate legislation as well as advising on matters such as school education, pensions, issues involving children and young persons and health matters. She has been involved in a broad range of litigation.
Her litigation team is currently primarily engaged in work for the Scottish Prison Service, involving claims by prisoners that they have been detained in conditions which violate their human rights, as well as litigation involving the Scottish Ministers, the Lord Advocate and government agencies across a range of subject areas, including planning appeals.
She also currently has a role as GLSS Staffing Co-ordinator.
