Paul Cackette

Deputy Solicitor to the Scottish Government Group CPaul Cackette is the Deputy Solicitor to the Scottish Government with responsibility for the Transport, Culture & Procurement; Rural Affairs; Environment; Local Authorities and Development; and Children, Education, Enterprise and Pensions Divisions of the Scottish Government Legal Directorate. Paul joined the Government Legal Service in 1988 and, after working in Divisions advising in the areas of conveyancing, court, local government, housing, environment and social security, joined the Senior Civil Service in 2000.

As a Divisional Solicitor, he advised on Rural Affairs matters from then until 2003 before undertaking a period of secondment to Justice Directorate as head of Civil Justice and International Division.

Prior to his appointment as Deputy Solicitor, Paul was Legal Secretary to the Lord Advocate.
